about the Miss & Teen Scholarship Competition
Phases of Competition & Scoring
Candidates in the Miss Miami Gardens Competition gain experience through participation in interviews, talent performances, public speaking, and promoting Community Service Initiatives.
CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY:
- Are you registering for the Miss or Teen program?
- Miss Miami Gardens: Ages 18-27yrs old. Candidates must be 18yrs old by the state competition in June 2025, and no older than 27yrs old at state competition.
- Miss Miami Gardens' Teen: Ages 13-18yrs old. Candidates must be 14yrs old by the state competition in June 2025 and no older than 18yrs old at state competition.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates must reside in the City of Miami Gardens, FL, or Opa-Locka, FL
ALL CANDIDATES MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Be a United States citizen
- Be a female
- Single
- No legal dependents.
Private Interview | 30%
This is the candidate’s opportunity to let the judges get to know her. The judging will emphasize the candidate's poise in handling the questions and how well she articulates her beliefs on the issue, not the position she takes.
Health & Fitness | 20%
The Health & Fitness phase of the competition is designed to see how well candidates maintain a lifestyle of good physical health and whether they have the sense of confidence and self-assurance needed to be a titleholder. *All candidates are required to wear curated styles by Rebel Athletic for the Miss America Org.
Talent Performance / HERStory | 20%
The Miss America stage has been a launching pad for many successful careers in show business. Judges take into account the totality of all elements, including costume, props, music, voice, choreography, etc.
Evening Wear | 20%
This phase of the competition is designed for candidates to make an on-stage statement of their compelling charm, presence, personality, and grace. Her composure, confidence, grace, and presence are projected “across the footlights.”
On Stage Conversation | 10%
This phase of the competition is an extension of the private interview. Each candidate will deliver a 30 to 45-second pitch of her Community Service Initiative, which at her discretion can include a statement on the initiative’s importance, her work, and plans with the initiative during her year of service, or other information.

OUR NON-COMPETITIVE MENTORING PROGRAM
LITTLE MISS MIAMI GARDENS
The Little Miss Miami Gardens Mentoring Program is designed to introduce young girls ages 5-12 years old to the Miss Florida Scholarship Program before they reach competition age. The program allows children to work closely with our Miss Miami Gardens titleholders who will serve as their role models and mentors through community service.
